Coach Toler’s competitive swimming began with the Elk Grove Park District and has lasted over thirty-five years.  He was a conference champion and IHSA state qualifier forElk Grove High School.  At Eastern Illinois University , he earned thirteen NCAA Division II All-American awards. Coach Toler continues to compete in Masters swimming and is a former Illinois state record holder in the 200 IM.  After college graduation, Coach Toler coached the Charleston Swim Club for two years with his wife Patricia.  In 1991 he returned to coaching as an assistant with the Stingrays and head coach for the 1992-1993 season. After thirteen years as an assistant coach for the Elmhurst Swim Team, he is again coaching the Elk Grove Swim Club.  Coach Toler has had the opportunity to train and coach age group state champions, high school state qualifiers, and eventual high school state champions.  “Over the years many top swimmers and coaches have had ties to the Stingray program.  It is great to continue to develop interest and talent in this club.”

Rhonda Burke

Rhonda has been coaching the Stingrays for 5 years, and is an ASCA Level 2 Coach. She began swimming at age 11, and swam in High School, where she competed in Girls’ State. She also swam in college, Her previous coaching experience includes 10 years as head coach of the Leyden Sharks.

Christine Sugihara

Christine Sugihara is a 1988 Olympic competitor and holds multiple national championship awards in Taiwan.  She has been swimming for 30 years and coaching for 20 years.  Christine has been coaching developmental and age group swimmers, establishing a strong environment of mutual respect between herself and the children she is coaching.  She excels at instructing swimmers on technique and form, working with the team to help each child reach his or her full potential or goals.  Christine has lived in Elk Grove Village for 17 years and has 3 children that are active within the community.  She loves to go biking in Busse Woods and to be outdoors doing various sports activities with her family.  Christine has been a coach throughout the Northwest Suburbs and Taiwan and is well respected for her effectiveness at teaching the details of swimming strokes to all age levels.
